A plantar fascia release is a procedure used to treat ongoing heel pain, usually from a condition called Plantar fasciitis, when it hasn’t improved with other treatments. The plantar fascia is a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of your foot and can become tight and inflamed. During the surgery, a small incision is made on either side of the heel and a portion of the fascia itself cut or released. This reduces tension on the heel and allows the area to heal more comfortably.
