Dr Chris’s approach

Dr Chris Bishop PhD is a renowned Adelaide Sports Podiatrist and Biomechanist, with 15 years’ experience in the management of orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery, complex biomechanics and sports medicine.

Chris’ passion is the use of complex gait analysis technique to better guide clinical management of his patients. He is a Research Fellow at the University of South Australia, holds a PhD in biomechanics, is consulting podiatrist to a range of elite sporting organisations and is a Fellow of the Australasian Sports Medicine Federation.

WHAT'S INVOLVED IN MY INITIAL ASSESSMENT WITH DR BISHOP?

All new patients presenting to Dr Bishop undergo a thorough history and biomechanical assessment as part of their initial assessment. This includes the review of any prior treatment, relevant imaging or footwear. Patient seeing Dr Bishop can expect a thorough assessment and clear understanding of their pathway forward, including the need for any more detailed assessments or tests as part of their management.

WHAT DO I BRING TO MY INITIAL APPOINTMENT?

So Dr Bishop can thoroughly examine you, please bring the following to your appointment.

  • Details of other health care providers
  • Any common footwear worn, including those used for sport & exercise
  • Orthotics (if you have been prescribed any)
  • Details of any imaging (this can be accessed online with your permission)
  • Prior to medical reports (if you have any)

DO I NEED A DETAILED GAIT ANALYSIS OR REFERRAL BEFORE SEEING DR BISHOP?

You do not need a referral to see Dr Bishop, but any information your Doctor or  health practitioner (i.e. physio) can provide is extremely beneficial. Chris reviews all patients and can arrange any follow-up imaging or gait analyses if you have not had any at your appointment.

Please note: Dr Bishop runs a full-fee paying clinic & politely requests payment of all accounts on the day of your consultation. Hicaps & Eftpos facilities are provided for your convenience.
